Apple doubles capacity of new iTouch and iPhone models!

This news comes to us from Gizmodo. That’s right, folks. Apple’s bringing out the big guns (read: gigabytes):image

  • iPhone 16 GB — $499
  • iTouch 32 GB — $499

Now we’re really rolling. I mean, the touch interface is an amazing experience, though the capacity of these devices has always been an issue for me. But having 16 or even 32 GB is just plain amazing. Problem solved. Even I’m excited about this one. That is a lot of space to keep movies and a lot of music that you may or may not listen to (c’mon, you know it’s true! :D ). These changes could also mean great things for when the SDK comes out, since more space means more room for other great programs.

The new models should be available in stores around the world in a few days.

That is close to twice the cost of the new 32 GB Sansa View. And the View is expandable with SDHCmicro. I am just not sure the nicer screen and interface is worth that much more, especially considering I usualy just hit shuffle and let it go.

True, but in my brief time with the Sansa I just found the interface wasn’t quite for me. I also just really like the way that Apple’s done their touchscreen interface. The feel of the touchscreen really is just something else. As media devices I think these things are pretty darn amazing.

but with that said, I agree with you. It’s not like you spend most of your time looking down at your nice touchscreen while listening to music.
