If you want a peek at the internals of the new MacBook Air (if you are into THAT sort of thing) just head on over to iFixit for some interesting comparison and tear-down shots. If the fully dressed MacBook Air didn’t strike you as an amazing design feat the tear-down certainly will- it is amazing how they got all those componenets into such a tiny package!

The posting brings us some great news– while replacing the MBA’s battery isn’t as simple as, say, replacing the MacBook’s, it doesn’t look all that complicated either– so long as you have a Phillips head screwdriver and bit of patience. All of this was done in the name of commerce as iFixit, maker of Mac and iPod parts, and upgrades is apparently planning to release a do-it-yourself battery replacement for the MBA.

Personally, I’m not into naked electronics pictures, but this line DID get me excited–

“A hard drive swap is definitely possible, but it’s no longer a trivial procedure like in the MacBook.”

Ignoring the last half of the sentence and just focussing on the first part makes for some very happy MBA owners.

Can you say “Aftermarket SSD drives?” I knew you could.
