MacBook Air and MultiTouch- A Demo
So far I am quite pleased with the MacBook Air that arrived yesterday. There are a few issues/concerns that have already emerged (more on that in another post) but overall I am “Wowed” by it.
Yesterday’s news that the special chip Intel created for the MBA would soon be finding its way into other devices did not come as a surprise. Nor is the rumor that the update of OS X Leopard would include the fantastic remote disk functionality for all Macs. Was there any doubt that any new or refined technology that works in the MBA would find its way into other devices? That will most certainly be the case for the MBA’s killer multi-touch functionality. No doubt it will be in the next generation MacBooks and MacBook Pros. For now, though, it is only on the MBA.
So how does it work? AMAZINGLY!!
Just as multi-touch on the iPhone makes the user experience far more intuitive, so too on the MBA. It feels natural. This isn’t “eye candy” or “impress your friends” technology. This isn’t “we did it because we could” technology. No, this is “how to make personal computing more personal” technology.
Okay, and it is a bit of “wow look at this” technology too.
So here is a quick demo of the MacBook Air’s multi-touch applied to a picture of my golden retriever in the back seat of a Cessna- as if the flight itself wasn’t nauseating enough–
