Trying Out Flock – The Social Web Browser

A little off mobile topics here, but hey, we’re all web users.  I’ve been meaning to try out the Flock browser for quite some time, and have finally got round to it this afternoon.

I’ve only been using it for a short while this afternoon, but so far it is … nothing short of … awesome.  Seems super-fast – your mileage may vary of course, but on my laptop it is blazing compared to IE, Safari, and even my beloved Firefox  It was kind enough to import all of my favorites, and even bookmark toolbar items from Firefox during setup.  Its Feeds sidebar quickly imported my Google Reader feeds from an .opml file.  So lots of time has been saved on customizing it straight away.

It’s called the ‘Social Web Browser’ because it’s got lots of tools and features built in to help you interact quickly and easily with all your favorite social and sharing sites – so you get, for example, an Accounts & Services sidebar where you can view and work with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and whichever other social sites you want to look at and update often; and also a People sidebar that shows all your friends / followed people in Twitter, Facebook and others.

I was also able to very quickly setup Flock’s Blog Editor, and I’m writing this post in it, just to see how it works.

Boy am I glad I finally got round to trying out Flock.  Unless it reveals some ugly faults or performance woes as I use it more, I can see myself using this as my primary browser.

Have you tried out Flock yet?  If so, what do you think of it?  If you haven’t and you want to find out more and give it a try, go to:
