Some One At Microsoft Must Be Listening!

Well, it looks like we are going to see the next iteration of Windows Mobile, sooner or later? There’s nothing to indicate when a release date might be. There is though a huge amount of very detailed information and a zillion screen shots, showing a newer, touch and gesture based UI. It’s exciting but don’t hold your breath.

Windows Mobile 7 will dramatically change the way we use mobile devices. It will emphasize the use of touch on the device, as well as motion gestures created by using the device.

While we’ve seen plenty of third party software development to add "finger friendly" functionality to Windows Mobile devices, like the ones from Vito Technology over at iWindowsmobile, and even recent releases such as PointUI, trying to add a more iPhone like experience. Obviously, we’ve all got our little pet hates when it comes to Windows Mobile, the team at JAMM certainly does, which led to the " hands thrown up in desperation" article from Doug, "Windows Mobile Is Broken….", to avert any more whingeing from the team. Well obviously someone else,(Microsoft) has heard the general discontented murmurings, and a new version is in the works. The post over at InsideMicrosoft is incredibly detailed and well worth a read, but this is still a rumour, and even the article has a disclaimer, that the end result of the development process may not be exactly as detailed. Now what am I to believe?
