Windows Mobile Messaging – Total Cost of Ownership Compared

Before making an investment in technology, many questions should be asked. How much will this really cost? Total cost of ownership (TCO) includes not only the costs of the initial investment in purchasing technology like PDAs as well as needed software, but also costs such as support, setup, maintenance, and any phone/data plans.

With that said, how does the Blackberry compare to Windows Mobile in TCO?

Alinean, Inc., a leading expert in IT Business Value, has created an online calculator that will compare Windows Mobile Messaging against RIM and other solutions.

Another study by Wipro shows that Windows Mobile TCO 20–28% Lower than RIM: Wipro Technologies conducted a comparative lab-based study of mobile platforms by benchmarking the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Messaging and Security Feature Pack coupled with Exchange Server 2003 SP2 solution against the RIM Blackberry Handheld 4.x and Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.x.
