Smart Volume Control for your iAnything!

BlairNotListen Have you ever been on public transport, surrounded by people sporting personal media players, iPods etc, and well, felt like going postal! The inability of people to recognise that their playing their music loud to isolate themselves from their situation at that time, and the adverse effect it has on others around them is one of my major irks. Let alone having the self-awareness to realise that all of that loud music, for extended periods of time is detrimental to their own hearing, is being addressed by big brother [Apple]. Actually, this is an initiative that I approve of,

The safe range of digital music listening should be below 70 decibels. iPods, however, can go to a full 100 decibel — that’s as loud as a chainsaw at work. The new feature will automate the lowering of volume as one goes on listening.

This is probably an innovation designed to avoid litigation in the future, but it is about time PMP manufacturers started to take notice of how their devices can affect physical health. Not only of the users of the devices but, the people that have to put up with the sound bleed, from inefficient head phones supplied by default with most devices.
