The Spirit of Christmas!

Ok, I know it’s the season to be jolly, and a lot of you are familiar with the paraphernalia that surrounds the festivities. The tree, the baubles and tinsel that we hang on it, lights [oh the poor environment], Good Old Saint Nick or the coca-cola Santa and of course the Nativity Scene.image

Away in a manger,
no crib for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus
lay down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky
looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus,
asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing,
the poor Baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus,
no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus,
look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle
till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay,
Close by me forever,
and love me, I pray!
Bless all the dear children
in Thy tender care
And take us to heaven,
to Live with Thee there.

So now you’re wondering what this has to do with mobile technology? Does GPS stand for God positioning system? In this case it does

In the town of Bal harbour, Florida, a conscientious, community minded resident has taken on setting up a nativity scene in the founders circle [town square] for the last six years, in the lead up to Christmas.

For six years, Dina Cellini has put up a Nativity display in Bal Harbour’s Founders Circle. But earlier this month, someone took off with the statue of Jesus.image

So this is where it get’s interesting, and really displays the spirit of Christmas, a person saw online, an appeal for the return of the statue, and responded, and now they’ve loaded GPS trackers into the statues, to make it even easier to find God. Even though the original Baby Jesus was bolted down someone made away with it. What’s with that? So the spirit really is that

Cincinnati resident Jeffrey Harris read a story about the crime online.

“I felt bad. How could someone steal a baby Jesus?” said Harris, who celebrates Hanukkah, not Christmas.
“Even though I am Jewish, I like the Christmas spirit,” said Harris, a civil attorney. So he offered to replace the figurine.

You know, That’s real Christmas Spirit!

Cellini is taking no more chances. In perhaps the ultimate merger of old and new, she plans to add GPS tracking devices to the statues.
I don’t anticipate this will ever happen again, said Cellini, but we may need to rely on technology to save our Saviour

Happy Hanukkah! Enjoy this time of festivity and sharing, and when you go shoplifting make sure it’s not GPS tagged, or you may end up in hell, or jail. Whichever comes first!
