Sprite Holiday Contest – Day 6

CONTEST DEADLINE: Thursday Dec. 20 at 5:00pm US CST

Most of you know by now that we really like giveaways and contests here at JAMM.  They’re a lot of fun, and a great way for us to say thanks to all of you for visiting the site.

Well … our good friends at Sprite Software are keen to help us keep the contests flowing more than ever during this holiday season.  So we’re going to be running a Sprite Terminator giveaway contest *every day* all the way through to December 23rd.  Terminator protects your data and allows you to locate and remotely wipe your device if its lost or stolen – check out its product page, or have a look at Lauren’s excellent review of Terminator and its GPS integration HERE when you have a chance.

Every day from here to 12/23, we’ll have one winner and one copy of Sprite’s excellent Terminator program – and possibly some Sprite Archie winners as well as we go along.  Then on the 24th, we’ll do our monthly Sprite Backup contest again.

For our daily Sprite Terminator contest we’re going to go with a little bit of a Terminator theme, or at least one loosely based around the Terminator movies and all things relating to ‘termination’.

How To Win:

As usual, it’s very easy to enter – but we’re going to have a slightly different approach on the extra credit / entries side of things.  We’ll offer a new extra credit question / topic each day, but the system will remain the same throughout these daily contests. Here’s how it works:

For one entry in the contest, just add a comment to this post.

For extra credit in Today’s contest, let’s see if we can get any stories about when you had to ‘terminate’ someone – break it off with them, dump them etc. We’ll award anywhere between 1-25 extra entries to you depending on how wildly creative and side-splittingly funny we find your responses.

Good luck …

By entering this contest, you authorize Just Another Mobile Monday, and its representatives, to provide your personal information (such as, but not limited to your name and email address) to the sponsors of this contest should you be selected as a winner. Your personal information will not be sold by Just Another Mobile Monday, or otherwise retained for any purpose except that described herein.

I used to work as an internal auditor for a company that did payday loans. I flew out to KY to investigate a store that was suspected of ongoing theft. As I walked in the door and announced myself no less than THREE people (employees) dropped what they were doing and ran out the back door!

This was a first for me, and really – how much more guilty can you look than running out the door? C’mon!

So, I counted their cash and audited their books, and lo and behold – they were missing money. I asked the remaining employees where the manager had gone (she being one of the ones that ran out the back door!) and had then call the others and tell them to come back.

Once everyone had reassembled, I locked the doors and closed down the shop for the day, then sat all of them in a room. (This was really the part of my job that I enjoyed – the “bad cop” and super intimidator!)

I explained in no uncertain terms that people were going to jail over this. (The 3 people who had run out the door had gone to get the money they had stolen the night before, and were trying to bring it back before I found out – subtle, huh?) Of course there are tears, wailing, gnashing of teeth, rending of clothes…

Playing Ms. Harda$$ no one got any sympathy, but I did get 2 confessions on the spot. They were sent to another room to await their fate. The remaining people were treated to a long diatribe about their behavior and then terminated on the spot with the knowledge that their names were being turned over to the police. (Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!)

The 2 confessors were told they were being terminated as well, but if they were willing to help me sort out their mess, I would tell the police that they provided assistance to me along with their confessions, and would have an easier time of it. They both stayed for a week to sort things out and managed to avoid jail.

I’d never had to terminate all the employees from a single location all at once before…but it sent a strong signal through the company. People where nervous as crap when I walked through the door after that, and I wasn’t really “popular” at the company. I wonder why??? LOL
