So here we are just a few days away from Christmas, and truth be told I’ve already done the gifting thing with my family since my wife and daughter will be out of town, and I’ll be working on Christmas. I got the family a Nintendo Wii … complete with a bunch of games including Mario Galaxy, DDR and Big Brain as well as others. I got my wife a rainfall showerhead, some jewelry and that sort of thing, and I got myself a nice new Casio Exilim. Now, I know what wasn’t under my tree, and I know what I wish would have been.

So without further ado … here’s my list:

I would love to see an Apple iPhone with 3G and an SDK under my tree. As all the folks at JAMM know – I love my iPhone. Call it what you will (including the idiot Phone) … I’ve never been happier with a device I’ve purchased. Sure there’s downsides, but 2 big ones for me could easily be fixed with the upcoming plans by Apple. Too bad they won’t get here by Christmas.

While we’re on the topic of Apple … I want a 12" Apple Macbook Pro – reminiscent of the long lost 12" Powerbook. I wanted a Powerbook something fierce before they announced they were moving to an Intel platform. Now, I just want a 12" model back in the lineup with that slick metal casing. I’ve got a 12" laptop (HP NC4000) and the form factor for me is perfect. I’ve had 13" Macbook and it was just a tad too big. Bring on the 12"!!! Oh, and while we’re at it … lets toss a Mac Mini under the tree too.

I also would like to request a Palm Centro / Palm Treo 800w – with a couple extras. First off sorry Palm, but the Palm OS is not gonna work for me. So I would really like it if you folks could toss Windows Mobile on there (touchscreen), spruce it up with some Wifi and GPS, kick up the speed with 3G – and launch it on AT&T.

I know that’s asking a lot, but I have to believe Palm isn’t ready to lose out completely to HTC … Yet.

Next up – the Eee PC. Why? Who the heck knows. I’m a bandwagon jumper on this one. I figure at some point I’ll be able to load up Ubuntu or Debian and make it a worthwhile device. Has to have 1GB of ram and the 8GB hard drive though. 4GB of ram and you might as well forget it. I can do that much surfing in an afternoon. Besides I get that much spam email from Doug in a week.

Finally … my last request is sort of intangible at the moment. I want a Windows Mobile that kicks the crap out of the iPhone in usability. What does that mean? Well for me, I want a WinMo that has a browser that doesn’t suck. I want a WinMo that can seamlessly transition from 3G to Wifi. I want a WinMo that doesn’t crash. And I want a WinMo that doesn’t follow the same UI design that they’ve been using since 2000 (and possibly earlier). Look to the left. Short of some shiny bars at the top and the bottom and maybe a custom background not a lot has changed in these almost 8 years. Its time Microsoft. And you can blow sunshine up my you know what all you want by saying "In WinMo 7 we’ll have X" – but until I’m holding it my hand … it might as well be Duke Nukem Forever. I love my iPhone … but I still want to love WinMo like I did before I got an iPhone. I want a real web browser, I want good network transitions… I want a Treo I can hold in my hand and know I made the right choice. I don’t want to seem like a fanboy here … but I can do that stuff with my iPhone. I can’t with Xda Trion (WM6).

Alright folks… that wraps it up. I’ve got a billion other things I COULD have asked for, and I’ll likely think of a ton more once I post this. But what the heck… you have to start somewhere.
