Cellphones vs Land Lines Milestone This Year

With Americans cutting the cord to their land lines, 2007 is likely to be the first calendar year in which U.S. households spend more on cell phone services, industry and government officials say.

It seems odd to look at this report and see that spending on cellphones will most likely pass up spending on land lines in the US this year.  Odd as in it seems like quite a big milestone, but not at all surprising.  I know a lot of my friends and colleagues use just a cell, and have been that way for quite a while.

One of the figures that caught my eye in the article is that as recently as 2001, land line spending was 3 times greater than spending on mobiles.  That’s a big change in a very short time.  Another sign of how quickly things are changing with our usage of mobile tech and tech in general I guess …
