NetFront v3.4 – Technical Preview

According to MobilitySite, NetFront 3.4 is built to comply with latest standards for HTML, XHTML, and WAP, NetFront strives to bring the most enjoyment to your browser sessions – provided that the site complies with standards. From CSS, DHTML, and JavaScript support, you’ll be able to have all the eyecandy and functionality of things like drop down menus and more.
Some of the uber-cool new features include: Improved rendering speed, Page Pilot, and Visual Bookmarks

Restrictions and Limitations (For now…)
NetFront Browser v3.4 for Windows Mobile Technical Preview
The Technical Preview version has following restrictions:
- The trial period for this software expires on February 29, 2008
- ActiveX (Flash/WMP) plug-in is not supported
- JV-Lite2 is not supported
- No technical support is available for the Technical Preview version
- If NetFront is installed in external storage, the behavior becomes unstable when the device is turned on or off
- Scroll mode is not available on plug-in screens
- Integrated Windows Authentication for IIS is not supported
- You have to exit NetFront Browser v3.4 to activate scheduled Auto-Cruise

I tested NetFront v3.4 alongside four other Windows Mobile browsers a few months ago to see which one loaded websites more quickly and completely. It definitely held its own. You can view the results here: http://www.pocketables.net/2007/09/browser-perform.html

Thanks, Timothy. I wish I could’ve added Deepfish to the list, but it seems like it’ll never actually get out of the water. The Deepfish Team Blog hasn’t been updated in nearly 9 months!
