Pong Turns 35 – The Game That Started It All

2 players with paddles, invisible walls on the top and bottom, and a little white ball…such were the elements of the very first computer game in history. Simple, fun, and addictive – these are the words which describe it when it was the bleeding edge of not only technology, but what would become a multi-billion dollar industry many years later. Created by Atari 35 years ago this day, Pong was originally a coin-operated arcade game which later also had home console versions. Happy birthday old grandpa of computer games!

Tell me about it. In the world in my mind, the Atari 2600 is still the height of entertainment. Of course, that may all change next week when we unveil the Wii for my kids. :) That is our big family present this year.

Wii not, space invaders at the local milk bar, 5 cents a game, and 1 cent worth of mixed lollies{candy} was a full bag. Damn

Yeah, I know, Pedah. I still remember when $5 bought you a full afternoon at the Arcade. Now, it is barely one game.
