Zunes: Second most wanted Black Friday item

Say what? I demand a recount! I have to rub my eyes a couple of times to make sure I’m reading this one right. Wired just reported that the Zune is second-most wanted Black Friday item.

According to online retailers PriceGrabber, Shopping.com, and uber-auctioneer eBay, the Zune player (in both its old Zune 30 guise and new Zune 80 duds) was the second-most purchased item on the web on Black Friday

It really feels like Deja vu all over again. Okay, I stole that from Yogi, but somehow I have this feeling again. I remember when the first Xbox came out, and everyone was saying that it’s a mistake for Microsoft to even think of entering the game console market. Well, we all know where the Xbox is right now in terms of being a legitimate gaming console.

While it’s still too early to say that the Zune will have the same fate as the Xbox, it’s still good news nonetheless. Now, if I can only find a Zune 80, then it’ll be happy, joy, joy Christmas to me.

Well for $79 a 30GB Zune is a decent deal which could be had all over the place online. Hard to pass up for sure. I figure most of the demand would have been for the older version. I know for sure the larger (regular priced) and new “nano” Zunes weren’t even falling off the shelf let alone flying off them at Target, Best Buy and Circuit City on BF or over the weekend.

While I cant’ argue that it’s the old 30′s that are selling, you still can’t take away the fact that it’s selling.

When a product stinks, it stinks no matter how you slice it, or how cheap you sell it. I can try to sell my Pinto for dirt cheap, but I really doubt that someone would bite.

I’m probably one of the few that run out and buy the original Zune when it was at $250 a pop, and to be honest I didn’t feel ripped off. I can’t say much about those early iPhone owner… :P
