Watch Out!
Get one of these and you can walk around talking into your wrist like any other movie secret agent. Reminiscent of Maxwell Smart’s shoe phone, Dick Tracy’s wristwatch radio and maybe even a star trek communicator, this watch is a fully functioning phone! This touchscreen PDA cellphone is an unlocked GSM phone. For a device this small it has some great features:
Make and receive calls (dial by pulling the tiny included stylus from the side of the watch and tapping the numbers on the screen)
Play MP3 files,
Watch movies,
Store hundreds of phone numbers
Send SMS messages
Enter schedules or notes with basic handwriting recognition.
Hard to believe (not), but I’d love to get a hold of one of these to test out, and also it would help to reaffirm my geekiness with all my friends, so they stop looking at me like a normal guy. It won’t work with all networks in the US (It will NOT work with Verizon or Sprint.) so don’t just rush out and buy one. There are a few other warnings at ThinkGeek you might also want to have a look at, not the least of which is:
Asian Style Sensibilities
The Touchscreen Cell Phone/PDA Wristwatch is designed in Asia, home of many cute things, and has a unisex design. You can wear it as a watch, or as a pendant. Some of the built in graphics and music are a little on the cute side. It looks plenty masculine in the wristwatch format but If you are Mr. Super Manly Man who is a afraid of a little cute… be warned.
A bit hard to work out where they are coming from with that comment!
Developments like this though, are encouraging for the advancement of miniaturisation in mobile devices and our long gone, cartoon like childhood fantasies.
