Yes, that is right.  The long process which started last May is finally completed.  Out of over 15,000 Windows Mobile programs, the cream has risen to the top.  There were 889 nominees, and now the winners have been selected in each category of this years Smartphone & Pocket PC Awards.  This was my first opportunity to serve as a judge (and hopefully I will have the honor of doing so again in future years). 

Aside from creating a deceptively enormous time commitment, serving as a judge was simply an amazing experience for me.  I had the opportunity to test software in categories I had never considered before, extending my horizons as to what is out there in the Windows Mobile world.  Many of these discoveries, I have termed, "Hidden Gems", which I have been or will be reviewing here at JAMM.

In addition to the software discoveries, however, the most important part to me was interacting with so many different Windows Mobile experts from across the world.  It was fantastic to have the opportunity to meet and work with all of them.  In a lot of ways, this experience opened my eyes to how enormous and dedicated our community really is.

Before I let you go, though, I do want to say a huge thanks you to Hal, Noah, Werner, and Sarah for all of the hard work they put in behind the scenes on these awards.  Just keeping track of what programs were nominated, and which judges require each access code is a tremendous task, and they did an amazing job keeping it all straight.  OK.  Now you can go see who won.
