WiFi Detection, uhmm Device?
There have been many devices and software designed to enable the mobile device user to find wireless access points but let’s face it, most of them are pretty dull. There’re also a lot of self proclaimed geeks out there, and let’s face it they can be pretty dull. So why not combine the two, in one fashionable package? Enter the strange world of smart clothing, with the WiFi Detector Shirt.
The shirt has an animated decal on the front that illuminates when WiFi networks are in range, both 801.11b and g. You’ll never have to power up your laptop or device, or pull that key chain detector from your pocket to search for WiFi again, with this addition to your wardrobe. You might also consider the public service you will be providing, as everyone in your vicinity is also made savvy to the presence of the wireless signal.
This is not a fictional article, the shirts are available from ThinkGeek for US $29.99, and the only drawback I can see is the washing instructions.
- Carefully peel animated decal from front of T-Shirt
- Unplug ribbon connector behind decal and remove decal
- Unplug battery pack and remove it
- You can leave the ribbon cable inside the shirt
- Machine wash gentle cycle on cold
- Hang to dry
Some may get a little funky as the washing process is rather convoluted. So will you be fashionably WiFi enabled?

Yea … that’s twice this thing has made it to the front page. I really don’t understand the fascination with this shirt.
