While we are on the subject of adding new technology to your holiday wish list, check out the new Samsung Quad Pen.  It is a sleek looking pen, with a chip inside the pen which records any scribbling you might make on any surface.  When you get back to your computer, just download the data for more permanent storage or review.  In fact, you don’t even need a surface at all.  Since the pen works by recording movements of the barrel, you could even writ in mid-air.

This would be great for someone like me who wakes up in the middle of the night with the perfect idea, thrashes around for some paper and, finding none, goes back to sleep…the idea lost forever in the recesses of some erstwhile dreamscape. 

Alas, for now, the Quad Pen is available only as a prototype.  There is hope, however, of distributing this technology to high end pen manufacturers such as Mont Blanc and others.  I will be watching for that.  Anything that mixes computers and pens is sure to be high on my wish list.
