Hey guys. Be careful with this one. The download page shows that it has been updated to he 2.l6 ROM. The download link still points to the old 2.09 ROM.

Here is the correct link for the download:

Good catch Doug, I’ll amend that link, to save confusion. Once I get to a PC.

I just checked. The link on the HTC page has now been fixed.

I see “Sprint” plastered all over this update….anyone know if you can use this with other carriers’ Mogul/6800 devices? I’m with Bell Mobility in Canada.

It is a branded update, and only applicable to Sprint Mogul, developed exclusively for sprint.

I downloaded the update hoping it’d fix my bluetooth…but it didnt’
bluetooth still turns itself off….maybe even more than before.
Like some guy said on the gizmodo review of it…it can turn itself off in 1minute even…. it’s such a pain.
The one thing that I like about it is I feel the internet is like 2x as fast almost.
I downloaded a video that was 1mb and it definitely felt almost 2x as fast.
same location and reception and everything…
is this the EVDO revision 0 or something?

Justin,
I have also loaded the new ROM on my Mogul. I find that it seems to be much more memory efficient now.
I have heard similar complaints about the BT but have yet to experience them myself.

I loaded it, and I have had to reset (little button on bottom) the phone 3 times today because either stuff gets locked, or the screen doesn’t turn on when I push the button on the side.
I had to do it only like once every few weeks before.
otherwise it’s about the same, except for the splash screens, and the apps that I’ll never use anyway.

This ROM has a lot of problems — do not install it. HTC has pulled it from its site. They are working on a new update.

I personally reinstalled the 2.09 ROM, to get back to stability until they release a fixed ROM.

I agree. This did solve a few problems at the expense of creating others. It was quite a disappointing effort.
I stuck with it though, because it resolved the issues with the keyboard. That is far more important to me than BT. Plus, I do not really relish the idea of yet another hard reset.

At this point the upgrade is still up on the HTC website, and I could not find any news that it has been revoked. Obviously the forum link syntheticzero posted, illustrated a lot of problems with the upgrade that Sprint are addressing with HTC. I hope this is resolved soon for all of you.

Actually, pedah. They have removed the 2.16 upgrade and replaced it with the 2.09 upgrade, which was the previous one from last summer. For my needs, the 2.16 is less broken than the 2.09.

I just downloaded it for my own info and file extension is now .09.651.03, compared to the 2.16 I initially downloaded when the link was fixed, observe, there is no indication on the HTC site that anything has changed.

Right. They do not outright say anything has changed. However, if you look at the ROM you downloaded, that is the 2.09 ROM which was released in June. That is not the 2.16 ROM which was released last week. They have stopped offering that one for download while they attempt to fix it.

I stuck with it too. Yeah, it creates a new set of problems, but not enough to keep me from using it. The bluetooth problem was the key factor in me using it.

The keyboard was key for me. This fixed the problems I was having with that.
Hopefully, the new update will be out in January or February. Maybe that will even include EVDO Rev-A.
