New iPAQs Delayed Until "Next Year"

image The HP iPAQ 110 and 210 (pictured) were announced on September 5, and fans of standalone PDAs rejoiced. Word on the street was that these slick-looking models would be sold starting on October 22. As you might have noticed, that was yesterday.

Since the initial release announcement, details regarding the timeline have become increasingly vague. HP’s pre-order page promises a ship date that is perpetually two days in the future. Reports are emerging of pre-orders being canceled. Worst, HP’s product page now lists the iPAQ 110 and 210 as “Coming in 2008.”

With the demise of the Axim line, the iPAQ 210 was shaping up to be one of the best options for fans of the x51v. This news is a huge blow to those of us who like our phone and PDA separate, thank you very much, as there is no hint of why the delay and  all of this confusion are happening. I’m crossing my fingers that the new iPAQs will hit store shelves at all.
