Contest: Spb Software House Is Letting You Choose The Prizes

contest01

Frequent readers of JAMM know that we loooove to give away free stuff.  Heck, most of our writers joined the team because they had already won everything we had to offer.  Many of the major software companies run monthly, or at least, semi-regular contests with us.  The one notable exception, however, has always been Spb Software House.

It is not that Spb has anything against JAMM, they just do not do contests very often.  So, you can imagine my surprise when I got an email from Spb earlier this week with an invitation to run not just a contest, but a mega-blowout contest, right here on JAMM.

Essentially, here is the scoop.  As we announced earlier, Spb recently released version 4.0 of their immensely popular Pocket Plus.  In fact, in the coming weeks, Lauren and I will be directly comparing Pocket Plus and iLauncher, the powerhouse today screen plug-in from SBSH.  So, be on the watch for that Clash of the Titans, right here at JAMM.

Getting back to the contest, however, Spb wants to invite all of JAMM’s readers to help them celebrate the release of this latest update.

To enter the contest, just download a trial of Pocket Plus 4.0, either from the Spb website or the JAMM store.  Load it on your device and then leave a comment on this post describing your favorite feature (or take a screenshot of your favorite feature).  That is all there is to it.  Only one entry per person.

So, do you all want to know what you are playing for?  One (1) and only one winner will receive ALL of the following:

  • their choice of any product from
  • Just Mobile

  • $100 worth of Spb software of their choosing

So, leave a comment and you too could OWN Spb.  Contest deadline is Saturday, October 27 at 1:00 AM (EST) (one free entry to anyone who can figure out the significance of that date and time).  Good luck everyone!!

I love the new tabbed browser. I actually was hounding them to add that during the version 2 days!

There are many nice features with Pocket Plus 4.0, and I particularly like the smart scrolling.

Just one feature? For the new version, smart scrolling is great but the one that’s very important is the CLOSE BUTTON! With my weak little Treo 700w, it’s VITAL to close every program I’m done using, while I’m at it, the small footprint is GREAT!

I really, really love that that SPB chose to spend so much time and energy to optimize their code to make Pocket Plus 4 smaller and faster.

I think too many companies out there can present great features and get too excited about finishing or presenting it all to the public. This means that we get hit by big bloatware-type programs that have all the song and dance, but just don’t fit on the stage.

So cheers to SPB for optimizing while adding all the new features

everyone wants smart scrolling these days…way to be on the front end as one of the first in integrating this feature!

I really like the “smart scrolling” feature. I would really like to have this one.

I am really enjoying tabbed browsing, even though PIE still sucks. I also like the enhanced file options.

For sure it is Today’s plug-in feature. Allowing multiple tabs to quicky and neatly organize applications is a must for small real estate devices such as my Treo :-)

Okay let’s see if this SBSH boy can be persuaded to have one of his two devices (in November) loaded with SPB software and one with SBSH. :)

The feature I like most is the scrolling, I just wish that Resco file explorer was supported in addition to the default built-in explorer. It’s very cool in the Contacts, Messages and Internet explorer though!

Oh – and the significance of the contest deadline, is that by that time I will be declared as the winner of this contest! :D

Free extra entry? :P

spmwinkel, actually you just need to tweak the registry for the smart scrolling to work in Resco Explorer: http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10531&sid=0225064e2f5db24761d5e7aa6840ea00

Great Contest! :)

Aside from the today plugin. The feature that I like most in SPB Pocket Plus 4 is the tabbed IE. But am also impressed with the smart scrolling feature.

Thanks SPB and JAMM!

It’s the smart scrolling- tabbed browsing is nice, but smart scrolling brings some usefulness back to the today screen….
The skins are also nice, especially now that you can put your themes and stuff in the root of your storage card- it’s hard NOT to just keep changing all the elements of the today screen.

Oh my, this is getting very hot…Let me join in too. I definitely like the faster response to the close button menu compared to ver 3.x. Hope to win.Thx JAMM and SPB.

WOW, SPB $100 gift. How can I miss this?
SPB Pocket Plus 4 has tons of useful features and the cool thing is that all these are done with ever faster response and smaller memory footprint. These guys are simply great. If you ask me, I like the “long press” button mapper option which gives me a new range of options for doing button shortcuts. Really nice.

The one feature I like in SPB PP4 is the smart scrolling that can support PIE and contact list. Only if they can extend to all 3rd party applications (perhaps in next version). Wish me luck.

SPB Pocket Plus V4 has been a welcome upgrade to many. I have tried the trial version and I am simply amazed at its enhanced usefulness. I think having multiple today plugins in one tab is a cool enhancement. This keeps the number of tabs to a manageable number.

SPB Pocket Plus 4 has scored many notches up with this release. I love the multi tab support now for Pocket IE. This is a great timely improvement over the previous implementation. Great stuff!!! And of course I am praying to win this contest.

Being able to label the shortcut icons on today screen is a big plus and improvement to me. I have so many icons and sometimes I just cannot recall which is which, especially for shortcuts to files.

SPB Pocket Plus v4? Hmm, I like the support for 3rd party today plugins which was not there previously. That is a great improvement to me.

Count me in:) For me the killer feature would be tabs in internet explorer

Wolfie
Oct 24, 2007

For me the feature I like the most is one you maybe will not need at all – safe mode boot option. It is the only bluescreen I really like to see when my PDA does not want to boot. Not everyone does sync his data everyday. I have lost my diploma thesis while I was working on due to HDD head crash. Having extra backup is always handy. But yeah – SPB Pocket Plus is mother of all today plugins so there is tons of features that are alone worth buying the plugin.

Oct 24, 2007

There are so many features that I like very much. It’s not easy to pick one. I think what I like most is the ability to put several plugins together with shortcuts into a tab.

And the deadline date: Maybe it’s the 8th birthday of Spb Software House?

Wish to win this all time favourite prize from SPB. I like so many things in SPB Pocket Plus 4. So if I were to mention one, it would be the label option for shortcuts in today screen. It gives better clarity now on program/file icons. Please pick me.

I shall join in for the coveted prize of $100 worth of SPB Software. SPB Pocket Plus has been a breakthrough to its earlier version. The thing I like – faster response with smaller memory usage. Not a doubt at all.

I love SPB software. Pocket Plus version 4 is certainly a must install for me. I like the improvement in its today plugin. It nows supports 3rd party plugins and it also supports multiple plugins under one tab (instead of multiple tabs).

Great contest JAMM and SPB Software House. SPB Pocket Plus 4 is full of pleasant surprises and I am once again impressed by my all time favourite vendor. The one thing I especially like about Version 4 is of course the finger scrolling function extensible to some common applications like file explorer, messaging, PIE, and Outlook. This is definitely a welcomed cool addition in this finger frenzy time.

First of all, thanks JAMM and SPB Software House. SPB products have been my favourites. SPB Pocket Plus is definitely one of them and the latest version 4 simply is a milestone in its own right. I like the save/open dialog that now override the usual default My Document folder. A minor but very handy tweak.

Let me join the fray for the marvelous prize!!! I like Pocket Plus 4 for its enhanced button mapping features. With a long press on buttons, I can now assign additional applications. This can be very handy when you have a need for more than 5-6 shortcuts.

I like the additional skin options for the today plugins –battery, hard drive and tools. And of course the smart scolling similar to the HTC TouchFlo technology.

A wonderful contest for a wonderful prize from the wonderful JAMM I must say!!! Let me put in my entry as well. What do I like about Pocket Plus Version 4? What else but its much faster response! For example, the close button actually works much faster than before, which to me is a key enhancement when trying to close or switch applications.

This is a great contest for sure. I have tried out SPB Pocket Plus 4.0 and I must say that every new feature is simply fantastic. The one feature I like most is definitely the smaller footprint in my precious memory estate.
