Recently, pocketinfo.nl reported that Microsoft planned to announce Windows Mobile 6.1 in February 2008, with potential devices showing up in May.  Pocketinfo.nl’s story has since been pulled, but the rumor is that the interface will likely be very similar to the Vodaphone-Microsoft collusion on the Treo 500v, where the interface uses a carousel-style navigation.  If you are curious, The::Unwired has a video of this type of interface here

The central concept of this interface type is to change usability from one that is application-oriented to one that is more task-oriented. Thus, instead of needing to open up an application to create or access a document, the new interface would allow users to jump to the appropriate portion of the carousel to perform the action directly.

The WM 6.1 interface is rumored to be a vertical scroller with horizontal options, and reported features improvements to WiFi, Bluetooth, and corporate Exchange integration.
