Official Gmail Blog: Updated Gmail for mobile
Not a whole heck of a lot to say about this one, other than don’t waste time reading… just go get it!!!
The new version of Gmail for mobile is faster than before — and consumes a lot less data. It also has a number of new features, including:
- more than 30 percent faster overall, and 80 percent faster for some tasks
- a contacts viewer to view your all Gmail contacts and addresses
- an outgoing mail footer to let your recipients know you’ve sent an email from a mobile device
- click-to-call phone numbers which you can call without retyping the number
- emails are saved for later re-editing if connection drops or if you want to perform another task before sending out the message
- Gmail keyboard shortcuts to perform tasks faster (on phones with full keyboards).

Can I use this with my iPhone.
AngryOldMan

DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!
Not only did it fail to install, but it wiped all the midlets from my files. I’ve reinstalled one midlet and then the Gmail a second time, and it wiped it all again. Google messed this one up!!!! Version 1.1.1 worked, but this version 1.5 is garbage. I’m running the latest WM5 on a Cingular 3125.
DO NOT USE!!!!!

Yes, AngryOldMan is right. As I’ve stated right before more than a week before the formal annoucement of 1.5.0 (it was available some two weeks ago already; dunno why it was announced only yesterday…) in the main chart of my MIDlet Bible ( http://www.winmobiletech.com/092007MidletBible/CompatibilityAndMain.html ) and have also discussed this issue on my blog (see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2223&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ), this MIDlet is lethal for TAO.
You, however, won’t have problems with Esmertec Jbed (NOT Jeodek), IBM J9 and Jblend. Again, see my MIDlet Bible.

Thanks Werner for taking the time to clarify this one… Might just save a lot of people some serious heartache!

v1.5.0 seems to work fine on my w800i.
I was running v1.0.0 before that.
No problems with installation or operation.
