I’m a sucker for board games.  Having small kids around doesn’t help either.  Feeding my addiction Astraware today announced the release of Astraware Boardgames, comprising eight classic boardgames: Chess, Backgammon, Ludo, Checkers, Reversi, Nine Men’s Morris, Snakes and Ladders, and Tic Tac Toe.

"We wanted to come up with a range of fun games that everyone knows, and everyone can enjoy playing," said Howard Tomlinson, Astraware’s CEO. "I love being able to pick up any of the boardgames, know that I stand a chance of winning, and have fun playing. Sorry, Mr. Kasparov, Astraware Boardgames is for regular folks only!"

And that’s a good thing, because if the Chess game pulls a Scholar’s Mate on me my Axim will need an Otterbox to save itself from being flung across the room.  Ahem. Um, nothing to see here folks.  Moving along to Page 2…

With three levels of gameplay for the games, users can adjust the difficulty setting for each game to better match their game skills. Additionally, several options allow players to modify rules for each game and choose whether to play against the computer or another human opponent. With such options this board gamer won’t be a bored gamer.

Astraware Boardgames is available normally priced $19.95, but Astraware is offering an introductory discount for a limited time, so you can snatch it up for only $9.95. Available now for PDAs and smartphones running Palm OS(R) 5.0 and Windows Mobile(R) 2003, 2003SE, 5.0 and 6.0, Astraware Boardgames includes support for all resolutions.
