Delay Projection for Palm OS II?

Poor Palm.  They just seem to be having a rough time of late.  Finito to the Foleo, lower-than-anticipated response to the Treo 500v and a few other troubles have made for a rough year.  Now, according to a report from The Guardian, a 12- to 18-month delay for the new Linux-based Palm OS II is expected.  This is a pretty hefty extension to the release dates projected just a few months ago, and isn’t going to help the perception of the current Palm OS being long in tooth.  How long in tooth?  The current OS doesn’t permit users to wirelessly access the internet and make voice calls simultaneously, plus it’s missing a robust multi-tasking capability.  Unfortunately, it sounds like the release date is edging ever closer to a release around 2009, and is putting Palm further behind Windows, Symbian and RIM.
