Comprehensive Detail
With over 10 million listings, Earthcomber offers all kinds of information from all kinds of sources, thousands with great reviews & ratings.

You can also personalize Earthcomber – by adding your favorites to its pre-sets and setting it to look for things you’re most interested in as you travel.

Earthcomber works with a wide variety of mobile devices – including those that run Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, as well as with many cellphones.

I have to admit I never really discovered Earthcomber properly on Windows Mobile – but now I find myself using it more and more often, even when I don’t really need to. Last night I found myself browsing through local restaurant reviews and bookmarking pages for future reference, even after we’d already found our destination venue and confirmed all its details.

As well as being a pleasure to work with, it’s also absolutely free to sign-up and use. Check it out at:

I used this app on my Treo until I ditched that dog and got the iPod. I continue to love Earthcomber, lotsa great content, never has failed to find goodies for me when I travel.

Jacey – did you get an iPod Touch? And yeah, Earthcomber looks great across all mobile platforms …

Nope – I was a Day 1 iPhone buyer. I feel a bit singhed (sp?) by the price cut — but I can’t complain about all the fun & conversations I’ve had because of my iPhone.

What’s your experience with getting your location set on Earthocmber with the wifi signal?

Day 1 and price cut = yeah, well at least you get that credit to use on something I guess. Got plans for that?
Setting location = I have not been ‘on the road’ with Earthcomber yet, so it knows my home location and I haven’t tried much beyond that. Sounds like you might have some tips in this area???

I’ll probably spend the credit on add’l power hookups. “Tips in this area” ? There’s a whole screenful of handy ways in Earthcomber to change your location and search from the new place. You can tap in an address if your fingernails are sharp enough. Or you can try the “Internet Connection”. I think the program reads your location smehow using the wifi hotspot you’re connected to. It’s pretty cool and in 4 or 5 experiments its gotten me pretty close to the right place. Usually good enough for the type of searching I’m doing.

I also tried Earthcomber recently. It’s really amazing. I used it while in New York and found a bunch of great places to eat that I never new were there.

I generally use the zip code I’m in and I find lots of stuff.

JW Smith – man I haven’t been to New York for years. You guys are making me think I may need to venture further than 5 miles from home sometime :)
