Recommended Read: Nokia vs. Apple War Begins

That makes a huge, relentless conflict between them inevitable. They’re like two armies trying to take the same hill …

I don’t know who will win, but I’m pretty sure that the main losers will be all of the other device companies and mobile operators who happen to be hanging around on the hill.
My advice to them: Run.

Michael Mace’s Mobile Opportunity site is always a great read, but his recent post on the start of the war between Nokia and Apple is really fascinating. It is (very!) lengthy but absolutely worth it. He explains why the conflict has been brewing for some time, why it has now kicked off for real, breaks down the two companies relative strengths in a series of key areas, and has some choice words on Microsoft’s position in all of this.

Probably not mobile reading (if you can read that whole piece on a small screen you’re a far better man or woman than me) but an excellent weekend read …
