The Ultimate Steal Offers Students Easy Access to Microsoft Office 2007
Microsoft Ultimate 2007 is a very expensive product, especially for students. But with the “Ultimate Steal” promotion, it is only $59.95US. This promo is running in Canada, the UK and the US starting today through 9/20/07.
“We’re listening to students who have told us they need Microsoft Office for their studies and want more flexible ways to get the latest version,” said Alan Yates, general manager of Worldwide Education at Microsoft. “We’re committed to providing accessible and affordable technology to students so they can meet their academic goals. The Ultimate Steal is the latest in a long history of providing compelling academic offers for students.”
Microsoft Ultimate Office 2007 sells for as much as $680 at Best Buy, so you have to wonder why Microsoft is foregoing some major profits and almost giving away its cash cow. But today’s students are tomorrows business leaders. Microsoft’s move is a pre-emptive strike against the student’s use of competitor’s office products, particularly Google Documents and Spreadsheets, Open Office.org, ThinkFree.com and illegal downloads of its product.
Getting students hooked now is a brilliant move. I’m so glad I signed up for a class at the local community college a couple weeks ago before I had any idea this great offer would come around. I signed up for my copy here. I should find out in the next hour or so if I qualify. Let’s hope I do!
