FREE iPhone unlocking?!
Feeling a little locked up without having an iPhone of your own? I understand … who wouldn’t be upset stuck in a contract with T-Mo and drooling for an iPhone. Well, it looks like the wonderful world of the Internet has solved all your worldly problems. Um.. yea, but not really.
Engadget is reporting that the first free … as in zero dollars iPhone unlocker is available although definitely not recommended for the squeamish.
Before anyone bashes because we’re reporting on something that is illegal… unlocking a device is not illegal.
Hit the link below for a quick and dirty info summary…
It looks like the battle’s officially over between iPhoneSIMfree and the numerous unique groups of open source hackers trying to software SIM unlock the iPhone. As we’ve been following in our previous post on the topic, earlier this afternoon iUnlock, the first free, open source iPhone SIM unlock app, was released to the underground just 74 days after the iPhone’s release. Developed by the iPhone Dev Team, it’s not for the faint of heart and it takes a little longer than iPhoneSIMfree’s method, but it works.

Man! Now I’m debating if I want to return my phone, and rid of my AT&T contract.
Go back the next day and grab me another, without the contract….blah, blah..
sigh.
