Apple Responds on iPhone Price Cuts – $100 Credit Coming …

promo_openletter_20070906

Holy Cow. Steve Jobs and Apple have heard the furore surrounding their rapid and drastic price cut on the iPhone announced yesterday.  And they are offering early adopters something back.

Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week. Stay tuned.

Just the fact that they listened and responded in some way, so quickly too, seems impressive.

Looking forward to seeing those details next week!

And that is why I like Apple.

OK. So, lemme get this straight. You effectively overpaid by $200, and now you feel and warm and cozy because Apple is giving you more Apple crap? Seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors to me.

Hey, while you are at it, why don’t you go buy the same song twice so you can hear the song and the ringtone??

So lemme get this straight… you’re a lawyer and you’re needed assistance figuring out smoke and mirrors?

Just kiddng Doug.

But hey, atleast they’re doing something… I know a lot of companies (including AT&T) that would just screw you and smile. Hell they wouldn’t even acknowledge they screwed you. Don’t beat up Apple for at least having a bit of a conscience.

Oh… and I don’t think any of our folks overpaid for the iPhone did they? I think they were all late adopters?

oh… and I’d be willing to bet it was not all Apple in this ringtone bullshat.

Agree 100% that the ringtone pay twice thing is a crock. The RIAA is the biggest pile of crooks (along with the mpaa) on the planet. ok … next to personal injury lawyers and insurance salesmen.

Brandon,

You are right that it is better than nothing. I am just happy to see no one is jumping for joy over what seems like an almost meaningless gesture.

As for the RIAA. I agree that they are evil. My feeling is and always has been that if I legally pay for and download a song, then I should be able to use and enjoy it in any manner I feel is appropriate, short of sharing it with others.

Doug
