iPhone – Custom Ringtones Via iTunes

Another Apple event rumor proves true – iTunes will be adding the ability to purchase custom ringtones for iPhone next week.

  • Requires new iTunes version (available tonight) to use this feature
  • 500,000 participating songs initially
  • Cost is 99 cents on top of the cost of the song itself
  • Segments up to 30 seconds long, fade in and fade out effects

This doesn’t increase my pulse rate a whole bunch, but seems to be something a lot of people have been wanting for the iPhone.

If you’re one of those folks, what do you think of paying extra for this, on top of the cost of the song?

I’m sorry. Did I read that right? 99 cents for the ringtone. ON TOP of the 99 cents for the song?!
