The idea that there will be a Google Phone seems way beyond rumor now. We just need to know what it will look like (hopefully like the very pretty recent mockups), who will carry it, how soon it will appear, and all that good stuff.

I’ve seen two good recent posts offering some further insight on all this. TechCrunch has a nice brief summary of current Google Phone rumors and how much sense they make, and Wired has a good piece on the 700-Mhz spectrum auction and Google’s possible involvement there.

Oh … and TechCrunch’s post brings a Yahoo Phone into the rumors.
