Google Maps vs. Windows Live Search Smackdown!

There are quite a few online mapping/driving directions programs out there.  When it comes to maps on Windows Mobile devices, however, the two main contenders are Google Maps Mobile and Windows Live Search (of course, without the assistance of a GPS, that is).

The question is frequently asked, which is better.  Until now, my answer has typically been to try both and decide which one works best for you.  This is generally considered a safe and generic way of saying, “I have no freaking clue.”  Until now…

Earlier this week, Dwight Silverman of TechBlog put Google Maps and Windows Live Search to the test in a head-to-head, winner-take-all smackdown.  Dwight puts both programs through their paces.  Which one comes out on top?  Well, you might be surprised to learn that it was not the one you might have expected (I think Yogi Berra said that).

Check out Techblog to read the full smackdown and see who one (via JKontherun).
