A Great Free App: InClose Mobile

One of the biggest complaints I hear from Windows Mobile Users is that the "X" button does not actually close applications.  Any power user knows what I am talking about here.  Ever since Windows 3.x hit our desktops (and possibly even before that), we have all known one simple truth: tapping the "X" button in the upper right hand corner will shut down the program."

When Windows Mobile came on the scene in 2000, the "X" button behaved in a wildly different manner.  Rather than close applications, it minimized them in the background.  The official explanation for this incredibly unpopular decision has related to the management of program memory, and the amount of time it takes to open a program once it has been closed.  To me, and to a lot of you, this has amounted to nothing more than a lot of techno-babble.

I want the "X" button to behave the same way on my Windows Mobile device as it does on my desktop.  There are a number of programs out there that can help, but none of them work as well as the free application InClose Mobile.  What I love about this program is that it doesn’t just reconfigure the behavior of the "X" button.  Instead, it turns the "X" button into a fully customizable part of your device.

pc_capture3 You can control the behavior of the "X" button when you:

  • tap
  • tap and hold
  • horizontal drag
  • vertical drag
  • diagonal drag

This means your "X" button is not only fully customizable, but is also transformed from being one of the least powerful features on the Pocket PC to being on of the most important, with a total of five different actions associated with it at any time.

Of course, the best part of InClose Mobile is that it is completely free, and takes up almost no space on your device.  Se, check it out today, and help get your Windows Mobile device operating the way it should.

InClose Mobile will work on any Windows Mobile 5 or 6 devices, with either a QVGA or VGA screen.  You can download InClose Mobile from FreewarePPC.com.
