BlueAnt X3 Micro Bluetooth Headset Review

Everytime I look at my watch, I find it’s time for a new gadget.  Today’s mail brought a new Bluetooth Headset from Blueant.  I picked it for several reasons.  I love the small, compact size, the large, easy to use buttons, and most of all, the fact the it comes with a wall charger and a car charger for a very reasonable $40 plus shipping at Newegg.

It paired very easily with my Motorola i580 phone and sounded good.  This unit is much lighter than my Motorola H500 BT headset, and feels far more secure on my head.  The feature set includes the ability to answer and end calls, use voice dial, mute calls, and switch calls between the phone and headset.  You can pair the headset with up to three different phones.

Talk time is rated at seven hours, and standby time is seven days.  But I suggest using the included neck strap if you don’t plan on using it that much.  They also include an extra removable gel earbud and an extra over the ear hook.  The hook is removable and not completely necessary for use.  My ears are too small for the ear piece, so I use the hook.

The top right photo shows three buttons, the round center one is the on/off/answer/hangup button.  The outer two are volume up/down.  It has pretty blue led lights to let everyone know that you are riding the bluetooth train.

My favorite part is the foot long, malleable charging cord that holds it shape.  On one end it connects to the X3, on the other end is a USB connector that connects to a USB port, wall charger or car charger, both included.  How awesome!

I bought one of these because I read a few places that it worked well with the HTC Wizard. I love my old Motorola HS850 but unfortunately when using it with the Wizard, I found that I need to scream until my lungs bleed in order for people on the other end of the call to hear me.
So I bought the X3. I too like the charger “cord” and the accessories. The only downside for me is that I find the unit incredibly uncomfortable in the ear. I don’t wear it all the time (it hangs around my neck on a lanyard) but whenever I push it into my ear I find it so uncomfortable that it almost hurts.
I’ll be very interested to hear your take on this Steve.
