A device that is likely the Palm Centro will debut on Sunday, October 14, if the report on Phone News is correct.

For those who haven’t been paying attention the Centro is the ugly duckling you’ve seen referred to as the Gandolf. Expect it to run the Palm (whatever its called this week) OS, touchscreen, qwerty keyboard and EV-DO.

Also according to rumor the release of the Centro (Palm 500 something) is going to cause the delay of the much rumored and greatly anticipated (at least by me and Judie) Palm Treo 800w until sometime in the first quarter of 2008. The Treo that should look just like the 750 only a tiny bit skinnier and include WIFI (catch that Palm??!) as well as a 320×320 screen, GPS and EVDO Rev. A … being delayed for a non-seller ugly duckling.

No wonder Palm has problems.

Sprint will definitely be the first carrier to offer the Centro, but it’s possible Verizon may release the Treo 800w before Sprint does
