My Level 19 Elf Can Kick Your Level 23 Troll’s @$$
Do you long for the days when the above sentence made sense to you? Do you dream (as I often do) longingly for the time when you could take your Level 27 Orc out for a stroll along the Elven Glade, kicking around the elves along the way? If not, well, this announcement really has nothing to do with mobile devices anyway, so you can feel free to skip on down to the next article.
But if you are like me, and you distinctly remember every aspect of the life of your Level 19 Elf (including the battles which gave you that coveted Cloak of Invisibility and Sword of Might), then you will want to check out the latest update to the Dungeons and Dragons franchise, version 4.0, which Wizards of the Coast is set to release in May 2008.![]()
According to the WoC online column, Ampersand, this iteration will vary from previous versions of D&D in that it will, "consist of four integral and integrated parts":
- the physical products, which have always made up the D&D world–the core rulebooks, supplements, adventures, miniatures, and accessories
- robust Community features (powered by Gleemax.com)
- a fully integrated Organized Play program that will offer benefits to convention and home play alike
- the digital initiative – D&D Insider
Check out the Dungeons and Dragons web site at Wizards of the Coast for all of your information, and then dust off that Level 5 Orc, because my Level 19 Elf is coming for you!
