Richly Deserved – Best PDA Program Award for Spb Mobile Shell
Some award winners cause controversy, others leave you feeling nothing. Then there are the times where an award winner makes you want to clap out loud when you see it. This is one that goes in the clapping out loud category.
At the Shareware Industry Awards, Spb Mobile Shell has been awarded ‘Best Program for PDAs.’
Very richly deserved I’d say. This is maybe my favorite new app this year. It offers a fantastic tradeoff of huge usefulness for very little screen space, and that’s rare.
Hopefully Spb Mobile Shell will garner further awards before the year is done.

Very well deserved. The app is superb and the recent update really worked out most of the kinks. I still have a couple of issues with the tool but it’s an indispensable part of my PDA.
My only regular gripe is the fact that the Now Screen won’t show if you’ve got Pocket IE in full screen mode. I usually have PIE in full screen and I still want to see the Now Screen when I turn on my PDA. Spb claim it’s a feature. Maybe one day it’ll be an optional feature.
Incidentally, it should also be pointed out that Mobile Shell also represents a great bargain since Spb included “lite” versions of other apps of theirs into the bargain – Phone Suite, Weather, and Time.

The funny thing is … the weather tab is accurate. Spb Weather however is consistently 5-7 degrees off the mark. Go figure.

I agree. I was contemplating replacing the weather tab with a more accurate program, but I have found it to be much better than Weather was.
This is a great package. Probably the best program out there for the PPC.

I have nothing to compare it with. I like the weather tab but would never have bought a dedicated weather app. I’m just congratulating Spb for throwing it into the bundle.

I’m in that club Melvyn. I live in Austin – weather forecast here is pretty much always hot, hot, hot. So I have never really looked for a dedicated weather app, but it’s cool having each of the elements there in Mobile Shell.

I’ve never looked for a weather app. They just seem to find me. FizzWeather was my introduction to the seedy side of contests (kidding). I won that here at JAMM before I joined the staff and started using it. Then, I reviewed SPB Weather. The Weather App in Mobile Shell offers a pretty good comprimise. Nowhere near as feature rich, but much more accurate than SPB Weather.
