Design Changes – Please Don’t Re-Adjust Your Screen


Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, if you happen to have had moments where the site theme and layout seem suddenly different. 

That’s right – we’re at it again. We are going to be working on a site theme change – as in, some changes to the overall design and layout of the site. Starting today, you may well see the site flip back and forth a bit between the current design and the beginnings of our new theme.

We are very excited about the new theme we are going to adopt and NewThemebelieve that it should represent a relatively smooth visual change, not a huge, radical difference in feel for the site we hope.

We also believe that it will help us to continue to make the JAMM site as user-friendly and easy to navigate as possible.

Following the theme change, we will also be looking at implementing a number of other site improvements. We hope all of you will like the new look and the other site improvements.

Some of the changes we make will inevitably ‘break’ some things at the outset. A sidebar item won’t work as expected, or comments added to a post will look funny, and so on. Please bear with us on these sorts of issues – we’ll definitely be addressing them as quickly as we can.

As always, we also appreciate your feedback and thoughts. So once the new theme is fully in place, please let us know any problems you can see with it via comments or Live Chat and tell us what ya think.

The only problem is, for a site devoted to mobile devices, the website looks terrible on my Axim, which I am currently posting from. I’m using PIE in default view. Can’t wait to see the result when all the bugs are ironed out!

OK – this had been a priority for some time, but now we’ve finally done it. There is now a mobile plugin and mobile version of the site. Give it another whirl on your Axim or any mobile device.

Thanks, Peter. Glad you enjoy hanging out with us. Yes, the mobile plug in has made a huge difference already. That is something we had discussed some time ago and finally got to implimenting.

Awsome to hear Peter. Patrick has been referring to this new theme as an evolution from the old theme, and I think that really sums it up. Essentially, it keeps the stuff we liked, but really upgraded the stuff that wasn’t working. Glad you feel the same way. :)

Finally we get a mobile version!!!! Nice job Patrick. You have not idea how nice it is to be able to visit the site from a slow edge connection and still be able to read a review or a news post. Renders wonderfully on my 750.

It’s clean, it’s spare, it’s functional, and my Axim likes it much better. Thanks for fixing!

I really like the improved readibility of the comments (judging by this page alone). Looking forward to trying out the mobile version of JAMM on my commute home this evening.
