Sprint Mogul ROM Update

The Sprint Mogul hasn’t been out very long and the first ROM update is already here! This fabulous device with high recommendations by Doug Goldring is sure to have EVDO Rev A…but sadly not yet. So, here’s the question of the day for you Sprint Mogul users out there – is it worth a complete hard reset of your device to put on a ROM update only to add access to a music store? If you answered ’yes’ then this update is for you! Else, leave your device alone and wait until the next update. Personally, I could care less about the Sprint Music Store as the Mogul is an WM device which means it can play mp3’s. I’d rather just rip my own tunes and transfer them to my device.

Update: The HTC site only tells about adding the Sprint Store. However upon Doug’s comment, I decided to look more into it and I found that News.PDA Live! says that the following enhancements are made as well:

Its also reported on various boards that the update fixes a volume issue with the earpiece as well as over bluetooth, and a soft-reset loop caused seemingly by the transflash card. 

Well, that makes a big difference then!

That doesn’t look like a standard USB connection on the bottom….if not. that Really is bad.

The Mogul uses a standard mini USB connection.

From what I understand, the new ROM also increases speed on the Mogul.

Doug, I couldn’t find anywhere about speed increases. But I did find other things that it did update. Post updated!

TJ, I only have that anecdotally from talking with others who have already updated their ROM and said the Mogul seems faster. I am hoping mine will just ship with the new ROM. ;)

I totally agree with the author. It is not worth a hard reset. And with Mediaplayer and a 2gb microSD i can download my library for FREE. What they need to concern themselves with is getting GPS navigaiton working on mogul, instead of music.

Well the music store was easier to integrate, and still has potential to bring in plenty of money. The easy things that will still make money will come out first. Rev. A will not bring anymore money to sprint, so don’t expect it any time soon.
