Let’s talk about SPAM…

Ummm..no…..not that type – sorry Mr. Hormel. I was referring to Junk E-Mail.

Yep, that’s it. First we had the text kind of junk SPAM and more recently image type SPAM. Now we face the new and dreaded PDF TYPE SPAM (insert haunting echo).

So, what’s so freaky about PDF SPAM? Images can’t do anything except look pretty (or ugly), but PDF files cannot be scanned by anti-virus and worst off it can carry a payload just like Word Documents and hence can be a delivery tool for malware (currently only a proof of concept exists – but I’d say that’s enough for concern). Not much can be done about it yet except basic safe computer practices of not opening attachements (regardless of filetype) from anyone you don’t know.
