Ilium Contest Winners
Here it is Friday evening and the Ilium contest has drawn to a close. I was extremely impressed by the responses to the Ilium trivia questions. All of the answers were readily available in the Ilium blog for those who cared to look. For the rest of you, before I announce winners, let’s take a look at the correct answers to the first three questions (obviously the last two had no correct answers).
1) Who were the founders of Ilium Software?? Ellen Craw, Ken Morse and Dan Amstutz. Any one of those three would have gotten you an entry. Almost everyone guessed Howard Tomlinson. All I can say is not even close. Although, Howard is the founder of Astraware…and Astraware does carry a few Ilium titles in its online store…otherwise. Not even a little bit.
2) What does Ilium stand for? Many of you guessed (correctly) that it is Greek for Troy, as in Helen of Troy. Correct, but wrong. As they would say on Jeopardy, not the answer we were looking for. Actually, it stands for a city in Michigan, where the various founders of Ilium were working and/or living.
3) Ilium’s first program was InScribe. A lot of you (including myself) incorrectly guessed that it was eWallet.
So, who are the lucky winners? Ironically, I considered disqualifying Christy for starting the viscous rumor that Howard Tomlinson was one of the Ilium founders. But no, I thought, just because she steered every single person toward a blatantly wrong answer…I’ll let her stay in. I mean, how could she win after a guess like that. And, of course, she was the first name I picked.
Joining Christy in the winners’ circle are Eagles and Weiganla, who is about one contest win away from joining the JAMM staff. We have an unwritten rule here that if you win too many contests in a row, you have to start writing for us. So, watch out Weiganla.
Congratulations to:
Christy, Weiganla, and Eagles.
All three of you should watch your inboxes for an email from JAMM very soon. And don’t forget to enter our ongoing WebIS contest and other contests kicking off soon. Thanks to everyone who participated. And special thanks to Ilium and Howard Tomlinson (I mean Ellen Craw).

Sorry, Ellen! Blame Christy.
Doug, you’re lucky that was a viscous rumor she started — there’s no telling how much damage a readily poured one could have caused.
Me write for you? You don’t want that. You really, really don’t want that.
Which is all to say, many thanks Ilium and JAMM! You guys are great.
