RIM cleared to sell BlackBerrys in China – Engadget Mobile

WOW! Just WOW! Nothing like having a billion people added to the potential sales list!!! I am however shocked at this a bit and I have to wonder how this all worked out. There’s no way that communist China is going to let RIM have control of the data flow over there (if France is worried… I can imagine China is mobilizing the military) so how’s the service going to work?

Think they’ll be forced to man multiple data centers in the country with government officials to ensure that RIM staff isn’t stealing secrets?

By the end of August, big city suits should find the BlackBerry 8700g on shelves with China Mobile — the world’s largest operator based on subscriber count — offering up the service.
