BlueAnt’s New Z9 Bluetooth Headset

Posted by: tjchan on Jul 31 2007 - 1,335 views

BlueAnt just released the new Z9 Bluetooth headset!

So what’s so special about this headset? For one thing, it has dual microphones with voice isolation technology which isolates and separates voice signals from background noise. You can also use on-the-fly switching that allows the headset to work with up to 3 devices so you can answer whichever one that rings with just a simple switch. It also has an auto-connection / reconnection feature. With 5.5 hours of talk time, this new headset will be available for sale for $99.95 (according to Engadget), on August 12, 2007.

Coming soon!  A contest so big, one web site simply could not contain it.  We tried.  I swear, but it got out and now you all will benefit.  Keep watching Just Another Mobile Monday, Gear Diary, and Clinton Fitch (dot) com, to find out how you can win…the Best D*mn Contest In The Land (with apologies to Ohio State University).   What is the prize you ask?  You’ll have to wait and see…but the picture should be a clue.  How do you win?  Oh you are going to love it.  It will be here soon.  Don’t miss it and don’t say I never warned you.

Possibly the Prettiest Laptop Bags

Posted by: Judie on Jul 31 2007 - 1,670 views

The lovely Alison pinged me this morning to point out the drool-inducing wares at the freshly launched J’tote, a fashionable laptop bag company located in Austin Texas. These bags are very feminine and stylish, and they can all carry up to a 15" laptop. One bag can handle a 17" laptop, so you mega-MBP users are covered.

Take a look at a couple of my favorites…

This is the Saoirse, which according to the J’tote site, "is a limited-edition, deep purple leather tote with a stunning beaded stingray accent, truly a unique combination of sensuous materials available with either a pink or purple stingray insert."

10 Great Tech Ideas That Fell Short

Posted by: Steve Laser on Jul 31 2007 - 5,271 views

The world would be a different place if…the many incredible inventions that came from brilliant minds actually actually made it through the tough and demanding rigors of the free marketplace.  Let’s go back and look at what is and what could never be…

10. After the mouse, a brilliant inventor came up with a great, yet diffent idea.  This was in the days before we had wireless connections, mind you.

The Hamster! was, conceptually, ahead of it’s time.  It was comfortable to hold, soft and cute.  The inventor, who’s name is not even a footnote in history anymore, aimed to strap on the mechanicals on the bottom of the hamster.  The problems were twofold;  the hamster kept moving, and it kept, uh, shall we say, making poopees.

Laptop Cases and Jackets?

Posted by: Steve Laser on Jul 31 2007 - 2,211 views

I’m so used to preaching about protecting your pdas and smartphones with cases that are always on, and now my boss is getting me a laptop for work.  So the first thing I thought about was getting a case for it that would always remain on, like a Sena Case.  To say the least, I have been quite surprised to learn that there are so very few choices in the market for "always on laptop cases" that I’m quite shocked.

I found a few, but they aren’t made of leather, which is what I favor.  They are canvas or neoprene.  Hey, I want to protect my lappy, and I want my case to remain on at all times.  I will put it in my briefcase for traveling, so I don’t want the case to be large or obtrusive.  Is this a novel or crazy idea?

Above is one from Protectcovers.  They have the right idea.  The case is always on, just unzip and you’re ready to work.  But $75 for canvas is a bit high in my book.

Linksys Brand Not Going Bye Bye

Posted by: Steve Laser on Jul 31 2007 - 452 views

Contrary to what we reported here on 7/27/07, the Linksys brand, according to Cisco, its owner, will not fade away like an aging rocker.  No, the brand, as well known and trusted in consumer networking as Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones (if not that popular), will stay put.

Meanwhile, Cisco, in the long term, will "examine their branding strategy going forward."  Don’t you love corporate speak?
