Apple Becomes #3 US Music Retailer

What timing!  Just before the iPhone comes out, the iTunes Music Store passes Amazon to become the #3 Music Retailer in the US, according to NPD market researcher’s quarterly survey.  iTunes now has a 10% market share, just behind Walmart at 16% and Best Buy at 14%.

I wonder how their new DRM free tracks will impact their sales?  I bet that will force Walmart and Best Buy to do the same.  That’s good for consumers!
