Surface Coffee Table – Miniaturized!

Do you have room for a Surface coffee table? Probably not. Well, what about room for a LCD display? Thought so! Multi-touch, the driving technology behind Surface computing is taking a direction on the smaller end of things. According to Gizmodo, Microsoft recently constructed a prototype that combines the multi-touch technology with a standard LCD. Using infrared sensors, when you put your fingers to the screen, certain amounts of infrared light is reflected thus letting the system know exactly where your fingers are even multiple fingers. It’s not your run of the mill touchscreen where it only detects one location of touch. Multi-touch is the wave of the future. Though it may not replace standard mouse computing, it certainly has it’s part to play in supporting it!
