There has always been a bit of a lack in mobile voice over IP. True, there’s Skype…but are there any others? For desktops there are others. For mobile devices, Skype was the only service available and it required a smartphone. But not any more! Introducing fring™! A VoIP (voice over internet protocol) and IM (instant messaging) software that networks and interfaces with several services such as Skype®, Google Talk™, MSN® Messenger, SIP and Twitter.

fring™ uses data networks and requires a 3G, Edge, or WiFi connection for it to function. Currently fring™ is supported on pretty much all Windows Mobile devices and a good number of Nokia phones.

Looks promising. I’ll have to try it out with my Dell Axim on the WiFi network here at home soon.
