HTC Touch – Within American Grasp…Late 2007

Wooohoo! According to Experience Mobility, the HTC Touch is coming to town late in 2007! How late? We don’t know yet, but I’m sure it’ll be by the time when the masses of people rush and spend plenty of their hard earned dollar…and plenty of time that people realize just how crummy the iPhone is (yes, I admit, I am very biased against the iPhone – especially after they said Web 2.0 apps is all we developers will get to develop for it). I agree with what Experience Mobility says and I’ll quote them:

So if you get an iPhone and become unhappy with it, the Touch will be rolling out just in time for you to make the switch.

So with me, I don’t need to get an iPhone and become unhappy with it because I’m already unhappy with it. I support HTC as they use Windows Mobile 6 – something that I can actually have a software development kit for where I can write programs to my heart’s content without having to shell out money each month for a server to host my Web 2.0 apps. Besides, not everything should be run off of the internet – imagine what kind of a bill I’d receive for using a Cingular To Go plan – yikes (unlimited data on a subscription plan still is expensive)! Web 2.0 may be the wave of the future but even in the future, there is still a place for those apps that just run locally on your computers, PDAs, and smartphones.

Update: Doug just sent me the YouTube video of PalmSolo (Matt Miller) spoofing iPhone commercials using an HTC Touch that he got to play with. Good stuff!
