Amtek’s Sidekick-sized U560 UMPC

I believe I have found nirvana. Amtek has designed a pocket sized UMPC that looks like the Sidekick. Their prototype is making an appearance at Computex and it’s hot!
It contains a Qwerty keyboard under the closed screen, an Intel proc with 600MHz/800MHz depending on the version you buy, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 3600mAh battery and Windows Vista.
This is not a production model and it is not know if it will become one. But I want one anyway. I think they hit the sweet spot with a pocket sized UMPC.

I think this will be closer in size to Sony’s UX micro PC series, though probably considerably thinner. The UX has a 4.5″ display and this Amtek unit supposedly has a 4.8″ one (the Sidekick’s is 2.6″).

Maybe you’re right, Jenn, but it sure looks small. I tried the Sony at a Best Buy and it was worthless. It was way overpriced, the screen was too small to see, and the keyboard was too small to type with 2 hands and too large to use with thumbs. This Amtek might be a better option.

About $1200 – later this year – and they added a couple pictures.
This might be one worth looking at!!! I’m definitely interested!
