Palm Advances Mobile Computing with Its First Mobile Companion Product – The Palm Foleo
Time will only tell on this one… but if you ask me this could be a big hit with the geeks. I don’t know if the stay-at-home parent is going to be the first in line, nor do I think Grandma is going to want one, but if Palm does it right (and they typically do) this could be a much more revolutionary product then they’ve billed it to be. Details are fairly thin at the moment on specs, but I’m seeing bluetooth, wifi, 10" screen, 256MG ram, CF and SD …. and that’s about it. No word on processor speed….
Building on its vision that the future of personal computing is mobile computing, Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq:PALM) today announced the Palm(R) Foleo(TM), its first smartphone companion product. The Foleo mobile companion has a large screen and full-size keyboard with which to view and edit email and office documents residing on a smartphone. Edits made on Foleo automatically are reflected on its paired smartphone and vice versa. Foleo and its paired smartphone stay synchronized throughout the day or at the touch of a button. This powerful combination is for productivity-minded business people who want a more complete mobile solution for email, attachments and access to the web.(1)

Is it just me or was anyone else really underwhelmed by this announcement? Now, after spending hundreds of dollars on a Treo, you can spend hundreds more for the Foleo attachment?? And all it is is a screen, keyboard and a bunch of things that should have been included in the Treo originally. Thanks, but I think I will stuck to my laptop.
